🔒 Your Privacy is Guaranteed by Design

File Type Detector is a 100% client-side application.

  • Your files never leave your browser
  • No data is uploaded to any server
  • No personal information is collected
  • All processing happens locally on your device

1. Information We DON'T Collect

File Type Detector operates entirely in your browser using WebAssembly technology. We do NOT collect, store, or have access to:

  • Any files you analyze
  • File names or file contents
  • File metadata or EXIF data
  • Your personal information
  • Your IP address or location
  • Device information or browser fingerprints
  • Usage statistics or analytics

Important: When you select or drag a file into our detector, it is processed entirely within your browser. The file never leaves your device, and we have no ability to see, access, or store it.

2. How Our Service Works

Our file detection process is designed with privacy as the core principle:

  1. File Selection: You select or drag a file into the detector
  2. Local Processing: Your browser reads only the first 64KB of the file
  3. WebAssembly Analysis: The file header is analyzed by our WASM module running locally
  4. Results Display: File type information is displayed in your browser
  5. No Transmission: At no point is any data sent to external servers

This entire process happens locally on your device in milliseconds, ensuring complete privacy and security.

3. Cookies and Local Storage

Essential Functionality

File Type Detector does not use cookies or local storage for its core functionality. The application is stateless and does not store any information between sessions.
